Fooling ourselves!
If Jesus was to return to earth today, in the same way he did two thousand years ago, he would be completely rejected by almost every church in America!
His simple garb, would not be tolerated in a church of suits and fine dresses.
His hair and beard would be the first thing that needed to go, if he was going to be used in any pulpits.
His words against sin and hypocrisy would be way to offensive in our smooth mouth religions of today.
He would be rejected because he did not enroll or finish the churches required course of study for all ministers.
He would be rejected as a member because he didn’t take the church membership class.
His tithing would not be enough to grant him a position on the church board.
His rebukes and exposing of sin, would get him many rebukes from the pulpit, labeling him as a trouble maker.
His call to repentance and righteousness, would label him as super-spiritual and being a fanatic.
If anyone listened to him, or tried to follow his example, they would be considered a threat to the pastors leadership.
Those who followed him would be ostracized and ridiculed. Accused of being a bobblehead, a follower of personalities!
His knowledge of the bible, would label him as a legalist and a bible thumper.
His exposure of their false teaching would throw the church into total rage.
His righteousness would be mocked and laughed at, from the church cliques.
His claims to be Jesus, would get him kicked out of every church.
His driving out those who make money off the church, would get him arrested.
His miracles would incite great jealousy and wrath, from all levels of church leadership.
His words and teaching of righteousness from the heart and head, would be completely rejected by the church manual.
No high standing church member, would even dare to talk to him openly.
His association with the common people would be an embarrassment to most churches today.
If given the opportunity, todays churches would stand up and cry CRUCIFY HIM!
His departure, would be greatly celebrated, and deemed as a victory for the church leadership.
After his departure: the church would return to their praising him from the hymn books, exalting him from the pulpit, interceding to him in prayer, and singing special songs about going to heaven. AFTER THEY KICKED JESUS OUT!
This is completely mind boggling! It raises a question of “what happened”?
The answer we find in God’s word!
- We will never know who Jesus is, until we believe him. Until then, we are just fooling ourselves!
- We will never know who Jesus is, until we humble ourselves before him. Until then, we are just fooling ourselves!
- We will never know who Jesus is, until we repent. Until then, we are just fooling ourselves!
- We will never know who Jesus is, until we obey him. Until then, we are just fooling ourselves!
- We will never know who Jesus is, until we ask him into our heart! Until then, we are just fooling ourselves!
- We will never know who Jesus is, until we stop sinning. Until then, we are just fooling ourselves!
- We will never know who Jesus is, until we walk with him every day! Until then, we are just fooling ourselves!
Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
In the passage above, it is evident good deeds, church work, or great accomplishments, will not get us to heaven!
Those who tried, were rejected because they worked iniquity!
Iniquity: (committing Sin, when they knew better) They were just fooling themselves!
