I recently sat down to read my favorite book. And as I opened it up, a flyer fell out of its pages. The flyer was advertising the building of a museum in the city of new Jerusalem.
Interested I began to read through the advertisement and to view its colorful pictures. The museum was a tribute to the heroes of Faith. In this museum will hang beautiful paintings of many different people, all of whom had performed some great acts of faith. Beneath each painting was hung a plaque that listed the great feats performed.
There are several corridors in this new building and each hall is dedicated to different era’s of history. The first hall is called “Patriarchs Corridor”. The first painting is of Abel. He was quite a good-looking fellow, I could see why his brother was tempted to be jealous of him. Under his painting his plaque read “By faith offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and he being dead yet speaketh”
Next to him was a picture of Enoch, who certainly looked patriarchal to me with his slumped shoulders, white hair and gentle eyes. Under the painting hung this plaque “Was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.” Wow, I was impressed by that one!
On and on down the hall I could see there were painting after painting of great men of faith. There was Noah, Abraham (who had quite a wordy plaque), Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses (who took up quite a bit of wall space), and Rahab. I could dimly see many more but the flyer wasn’t very big, and it was hard to see some others.
Also advertised was a Hall of Judges, and listed in this hall were Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthae, David also, and Samuel. Listed were some amazing feats by these men, all great acts of Faith!
There are other corridors labeled “Disciples” “Apostles” and yet another one simply called “Saints”. I was very interested in the museum and realized that it was a huge place. It would take far more time than I now have to go through it all and see every painting and read each fascinating story. Someday I will have plenty of time to go through the halls and probably get blessed doing it! We serve a Big God and I think this museum will glorify him in a great way, a monument of God’s faithfulness to his people.
Toward the end of the flyer I noticed something that caught my attention. It was the statement “that they without us should not be made perfect” hmm. Now what did that mean? I asked myself. Toward the front of the flyer there were instructions on how to contact the editor. I followed them carefully I soon found myself speaking to Him and posed my question to him.
He explained to me that the hall of saints was still under construction but would be finished very soon. The construction crew is working, sometimes even as late as midnight. I will know when it is finished because there will be a loud trumpet sound. This blast will start the dedication festivities, which will include a great feast, with much singing, laughter, live music, and many more surprises. Sounded like an event I don’t want to miss!
My curiosity was roused, so I asked, “who is going to be hung in this last unfinished addition?” The response I got was shocking! The curator said to me, “You are, by the way, what will we put on your plaque?”
I was taken back and flattered! Me? Uh, plaque? Oh my! I’m still not sure what to answer!
I am still amazed at the reply I got, but thought that I would pass the word along, the museum curator is obviously looking for candidates. So what about you? The Master builder is searching to and fro throughout the whole earth to show himself strong in behalf of any and all whose heart is perfect toward him. Are you a candidate? What will be put on your plaque? Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity- Apply now before it is too late!
